Chrysler platforms run

Jeep, Dodge, Ram and Chrysler share a single immobilizer lineage. SKIM is the Sentry Key Immobilizer Module; SKREEM is the later combined immobilizer and remote-entry module. Which one you have decides how a key is enrolled.

SKIM, the earlier module

A transponder in the key head is enrolled to the Sentry Key module. Adding a key alongside a working one is routine; the module keeps a list of what it has been taught.

SKREEM, the combined module

Later vehicles merged the immobilizer and the remote receiver into one unit, so the replacement has to satisfy both the security credential and the remote frequency at once.

PIN-dependent enrollment

Chrysler platforms enroll against a vehicle-specific code. Obtaining it correctly is part of the job, and it is the step that separates a working key from an expensive blank.

Proximity fobs on later models

Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Charger, Challenger, Ram 1500, Pacifica and Compass in keyless generations use proximity fobs, and some later platforms sit behind a security gateway that is checked for compatibility before dispatch.

It protects diagnostic functions on many newer vehicles. Key programming may require approved authenticated access; a compatible fob alone is not sufficient.

Is a Jeep FOBIK the same as a proximity fob?

No. Similar-looking plastic can represent different ignition and security systems. The exact Jeep platform determines the procedure.

Can a used Ram fob be programmed?

Reuse depends on the board, prior pairing and target platform. Confirm the complete identity and history before purchase.

Why do the buttons work but my Dodge will not start?

Remote radio functions do not prove the immobilizer or RF hub accepts the credential.
